Classification and characteristics of erlenmeyer shake flasks

Erlenmeyer shake flasks are an important cell culture consumable. They are divided into triangular erlenmeyer shake flasks and high-efficiency erlenmeyer shake flasks according to their capacity and shape. Their characteristics are as follows:

Triangular erlenmeyer shake flask: The capacity of this cell shake flask is generally small, ranging from 125ml-1000ml. It is also called a conical shake flask. It is made of polycarbonate (PC) or PETG. It has a unique triangular shape design. The pipette or cell scraper can reach the corner of the bottle more easily, making the cell culture operation more convenient. It is mainly used for the cultivation of insect cell lines with higher oxygen requirements. Compared with consumables such as cell factories and cell spinner flasks, the cell culture area is smaller, and it is an economical cell culture tool.

Classification and characteristics of erlenmeyer shake flasks

High-efficiency erlenmeyer shake flasks: This type of erlenmeyer shake flask has a large capacity and is suitable for high-density cell culture. The working volume can be filled to 60-80% of the total volume, and the cell yield of the same volume of shake flask is higher. The 5L erlenmeyer shake flask is equipped with an ergonomically designed handle to facilitate the taking of the shaker and the transfer of liquid. The arc design of the bottleneck is excessively natural, and the size of the bottleneck guarantees an effective gas exchange space and is also convenient for one-handed operation.

The above are the characteristics of the two different erlenmeyer shake flasks. The same is that the two shake flasks are marked with a scale on the bottle body to facilitate the observation of the capacity of the culture medium. In the selection of bottle caps, a 0.2μm sterile vent cap is generally equipped, and a liquid transfer cap can also be selected to facilitate the aseptic transfer of liquid.
