  May 31, 2023 -- Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Abrysvo™ (Respiratory Syncytial Virus Vaccine), the company’s bivalent RSV prefusion F (RSVpreF) vaccine, for the prevention of lower respiratory tract disease caused by RSV in individuals 60 years and older. Apr. 17, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Omisirge (omidubicel-onlv), a substantially modified allogeneic (donor) cord blood-based cell therapy to quicken the recovery of neutrophils (a subset of white blood cells) in the body and reduce the risk of infection. FDA authorizes Gohibic (vilobelimab) injection for the treatment of COVID-19

  FDA has issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the use of Gohibic (vilobelimab) injection for the treatment of COVID-19 in hospitalized adults when initiated within 48 hours of receiving invasive mechanical ventilation or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (artificial life support). The treatment targets a part of the immune system that is thought to play a role in the inflammation that leads to COVID-19 disease progression. The clinical trial supporting the authorization showed that patients treated with Gohibic had a lower risk of death by day 28 and day 60 of treatment compared to placebo.
